10–18 January 2010

  • A female Acorn Woodpecker (Melanerpes formicivorus). Plenty of acorns in this oak-studded landscape.
  • A semicircular barranca.
  • A finger which has become separated from the cliff.
  • One ridge leads to another....
  • We enjoy the vista.
  • What's that little rectangular structure?
  • Looks like the remains of a house. It must have been very dark.
  • We can't get enough of the views.
  • A village well. The Rarámuri girl accompanied us on the whole walk.
  • The stone walls are reminiscent of New England fields.
  • The rim walk revealed new vistas.
  • Another canyon-rim vista.
  • And we're back in sight of the hotel.
  • Our Indian companion.
  • After lunch we visit the Indian village.
  • One of the village's important buildings is the church.
