Is this the Rio Fuerte?
Rio Chinipas, seen from Chepe.
One of the 37 railroad bridges between Los Mochis and Chihuahua. This one crosses the reservoir above the Huites dam.
View from the bridge.
Pink blossoms were everywhere.
El Chepe enters one of the 86 tunnels between Los Mochis and Chihuahua.
After the railroad was completed, the workers' houses were stripped of everything useful elsewhere, including their windows.
El Chepe was put into service in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Mexican Revolution.
Yet another of the CHP's 37 bridges.
The track clings to the canyon wall.
Time for some maintenance.
One of many switchbacks. Note the track entering the tunnel at upper left.
The switchback again, looking downriver.
A narrow cut through solid rock.
As we climb, we begin to see pines...
... and open meadows.
